Oktoberfest 2013

So this is Knödel... My favorite Austrian meal!  We had it a couple days ago and I just wanted to express my love for it!  When I go back home, I think I might take a suitcase filled with Knödels ;)
So my family took me to Oktoberfest!!  It was an awesome experience!
It took about 2 hours to get there, we rode the train most of the way because trains in Germany are pretty cheap to ride.
This is the headquarters in Munich :) I LOVE the look of this building!
So of course I had to get a picture!! It was hard to get, because with so many people, someone walked in front of the camera constantly haha.

They had a huge farmers market, I could spend hours there :)
We went to a small castle before heading to the festival.  This is me and my host mom Irene!

 This is me and Kilian.

Then we got to go in!!!!  This was my favorite room.  Its actually the most beautiful room I have seen in my entire life.  As soon as you go in, it takes your breath away.

Then we went to the festival!!
Usually you arent allowed in the beer tents without a reservation.  However, I was American and so they let me go in and take a couple pictures!  About 6 million people go to Oktoberfest in the 2 weeks that its open.  In this tent alone there were 7 thousand people, and around half of them were already drunk.  This was around 12 in the Afternoon.

This is NOT my beer.  Its my host dads, but I had to get a picture!  ITS HUGE!  The men here drink about 3 or 4 of these and the waitress has to carry around 10-12 of them.

Fun time :)  I will probably will go again one day!

Randomness

Our class went on a hike a couple days ago! It was rainy, but oh so fun.

These are some of my closest friends.  They are so sweet and accepting of my weirdness. We hang out mostly on the weekends!
This is a Kebap, it is Turkish, but I was told I HAD to try it!  It was so good, but so bad for you!!  And honestly, I dont even know what I was eating, some kind of meat I think.
These are some of the meals I have had.  Pancake soup, cocoa puff soup (i have no idea what it was)  And an assortment of cheeses and meats to put on bread.  My favorite was the potato cheese, they said I liked it because I am from Idaho, land of the potatoes.

Best care package ever.... :)

Thanks mom for sending this life saving gift.  I literally ate the mangos in one day... but I am keeping the peanut butter eating at a minimum.  I want to keep it for a long time.  I did go buy jam and "toast" which is just our regular bread.  I bought these because the people I care about needed to try a PB & J :)  My host parents were suprised that they liked it haha.  Also, my classmates liked the sandwhich, but liked Peanut butter with apples alot more!!

This is for my mommy:  Okay, so these are some of the things you asked about...

School: I go to school at 7:30 and each day ends at different times, so I just follow people around because I have no idea where to go.  Im not getting ANY marks or grades for my first semester but I can get marks for the second one.  I am taking English, Latin, French, Math, Chemistry, Religion, Physics, Sports, and Music. English is my favorite class, because they all ask me questions and I feel smart. However, I am forgetting my english and forgot the words 'bucket' and 'Termites' haha I guess that means I am learing German.   I also like music, espeicially when we sing german songs, those are my favorite :)

Family: My host parents are busy alot, because they are both principles of different schools.  They are the nicest people though :)  They are the main reason I havent gotten so homesick!  They bought me a bracelet! Its called a nomination and almost every girl in Austria has one (they are VERY expensive though... one charm can range from 20-100 Euros)  But my first charm they bought me was an Austrian flag :)

and I dont remember what else you asked me to tell you... so I think i am done

Love you lots
